A Family Estate
An exceptional setting in the heart of Sologne
The Montfranc domain welcomes you in a preserved and exceptional setting. This family property, passed down from generation to generation, houses a charming château and its outbuildings, including the Longères which we have completely renovated in 2024.
THE RENOVATIONS
The Transformation of the Longères
We had been planning for a long time to renovate the large barn located behind our house. At the end of 2023, we embarked on its transformation into a spacious and beautiful house with an unobstructed view of the plain and woods. After an entire year of work, we are happy and proud to welcome you here.
We completed this project with a great team of local craftsmen with whom we followed the construction progress day by day. We designed and created the decoration ourselves, trying to make this house one we would love to go on vacation to!
At Christmas 2023, we emptied the entire barn which until then had been used for storage, leaving just 4 brick walls, a dirt floor, and old wooden doors! The work began in the first days of 2024 with masonry, then everything followed: creation of the upper floor and revision of the framework, roofing, installation of openings, insulation, electricity, painting, plumbing, kitchen, landscaping, installation of the swimming pool and finishing touches! 11 months on our toes but deadlines met, we completed the decoration at the end of November and welcomed our first guests on December 10, 2024!

A BIT OF HISTORY
A prestigious past
The first historical references to Montfranc date back to the 15th century. This property was sold in 1820 by Madeleine d’Orléans to Chevalier Edouard-François de Laage de Meux who dedicated 25 years to improving the Sologne lands through both pine plantations and irrigation works. This earned him the rank of Knight of the Legion of Honor.
This typical Sologne property has been preserved and carefully maintained from generation to generation within the Laage family.
TODAY
A family story
Even today, the entire property is occupied by family members.
We live here year-round in the château’s outbuildings, next to Edouard’s parents who occupy the neighboring house.
Having settled here a few years ago, we run a communication and digital marketing agency from home, thus fulfilling our dream: working in digital while living in the forest!
